Cincinnati Tour

The first real city hall and birthplace of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra

19th century gathering place called the Cosmopolitan. Some of you may remember the downstairs as  the WAREHOUSE

Yesterday, Mom, Bobi and I went to Over-the-Rhine to take the Cincinnati Underground Tour. It was fun to learn some history of the area, the immigrants, and the history of brewing and how prohibition pretty much caused the demise of the OTR area. The tour guide was dynamic and held our interest. He took us into a tunnel system that was used by the brewers to keep beer from spoiling and also were used to transport the beer from the brewer to the bottler and avoid the taxman. At one time, Cincinnati had 32 breweries and drank 40 gallons of beer per man, woman and child, twice the national average. It all ended with prohibition.
