We saw this great carousel at the Florence Mall today. I wanted to take each piece home with me. They were too nice for kids with dirty diapers to be sitting on.
I arrived in Cincinnati yesterday afternoon. My flight wasn’t too bad, considering I dragged Monica out of bed to take me to the airport at 3:30 to catch my 6am flight. The place was packed. We took one of those small planes that are really noisy and uncomfortable. I sat in the very last seat, by the window,in back with the bathroom. My seat would not recline so I tried to nap like a bobblehead for 2 hours, quite unsuccessfully. My sister and two nieces picked me up and we went directly to Skyline where I had a 4-Way with onion. I’m happy already. Afterward, we picked up Nick and then went to my mom’s office to pick her up and went to Nick’s ballgame. That was a lot of fun. I got to see my brother too. After the game, my brother and Nick took off for St. Louis to see a Cardinals game for Nick’s birthday. I can’t believe he’s going to be 14. I still remember the moment his little squishy head squeezed its way into the world.
My parents and I went to get Chinese food for dinner. It was really good. Then we came home and crashed in front of the TV.
Today, my mom and I went downtown. I don’t think I can find my way around here anymore. They’ve built that hideous Paul Brown stadium that still looks like gigantic satellite dish that crashed along the river bank and they’ve re-routed every road in the city to go around the ghastly thing. Everywhere we looked were cranes and construction. The sounds of jackhammers and nailguns filled the air. Mom was delighted to go shopping for wigs and hip-hop clothing downtown. I can’t explain it. I think she’s turning into a gay black man.
We had lunch at the Rock Bottom brewery where I had a really good burger. I’m fussy about my burgers and this one passed the test. I tried not to think about the horror stories Monica told me about the beef industry. I won’t even delve into it for your benefit. Be happy about that.
I’m planning to see some of my cousins on Friday. A few of them are down from Illinois so that will be fun. Saturday, my mom and I are going to take Brandi and Lauren (my nieces) to the Yellow Springs Street Fair. I’ve never gotten to go to it because I usually find out about it a week after it happens, so I’m looking forward to that. I wish Monica was here for it because I think she would love it.
At some point I should actually crack open the TNCC book and take a look at it before I take the class on Tuesday and Wednesday. Fortunately, I’ve taken it before so there shouldn’t be too many surprises.
